Matt Hunt is the lab manager in the Chou lab. He grew up in the small town of Bethany Connecticut. He has a B.S. in biochemistry and M.S. in plant biology from the University of New Hampshire, as well as a PhD in crop sciences from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Research interests for Matt include molecular and physiological characterization of transgenic plants as well as facilitating the interface of bioinformaticists with biologists. He has worked with soybean, maize, and peanut in previous labs and is experienced in many aspects of molecular biology including cloning and plant transformation.
In his spare time, Matt practices martial arts including Taekwondo as well as Kuk Sul Won. He also enjoys traveling, exploring, and visiting with friends across the country.
